Steve graduated from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both Psychology and Sociology. During his time at Jacksonville State, Steve was very involved in the Baptist Campus Ministry.
After graduating, Steve entered Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Due to a financial hardship, Steve left seminary and returned to Jacksonville State with a hospital paying his fees and giving him a part-time job. Steve received the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1983 and then worked full time for the hospital that had assisted him until he had repaid their loan.
Steve returned to Southwestern and earned the Master of Divinity Degree in 1989. While at seminary, he was involved in the Continuing Witness Training (CWT) program at his church.
Steve left Southwestern and returned to Alabama in 1989 where he continued working as a nurse and gaining experience preaching in several churches. Steve joined the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Alabama where he served as a deacon, Discipleship Training Director, and as a Sunday school teacher. During this time, Steve became a volunteer Interfaith Witness Associate (IWA) with the Alabama State Evangelism Department. As an IWA Steve spoke in several churches on the topics of Mormonism and New Age beliefs. With all of this going on, Steve returned to Jacksonville State and earned the Master of Science Degree in Counseling.
In addition to his duties at Watchman Fellowship, Steve currently works as a nurse and serves as a volunteer hospital chaplain.
