Ioan FilipIoan Filip was born into a Christian family in Romania, while it was under the rule of an oppressive communist regime. The Church met in secret and Ioan saw first hand the persecution Christians experienced under Communism. In this environment in 1979, Ioan came to faith in Christ, and his love for the Lord and His Word led him to become involved in a Bible education extension program. In 1995, Ioan was selected from his denomination to receive ministry training from Watchman Fellowship in cult awareness and countercult apologetics.
Ieremia RusuThough raised in a Christian family, the atheistic education Ieremia received in communist Romania caused him to reject his parents’ faith. God had other plans, however, and at the age of 16, he saw the truth of the gospel and came to faith in Christ. In 1995, he and his wife, Lida, were trained by Watchman Fellowship in countercult apologetics. After receiving his MA in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute, Ieremiah returned to Romania to continue his ministry in apologetics and cult awareness to churches and as the Dean of Education at Timotheus Bible Institute.
James WalkerJames Walker, the president of Watchman Fellowship, is a former fourth generation Mormon with over twenty years of ministry experience in the field of Christian counter-cult evangelism, apologetics, and discernment. He has been interviewed as an expert on new religious movements and cults on a variety of network television programs including Nightline, ABC World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, and The News Hour with Jim Lehrer. He has spoken at hundreds of churches, colleges, universities, and seminaries throughout the United States and internationally.
David HenkeDavid Henke founded Watchman Fellowship in 1979. He chose to pursue this ministry full time in 1978, leaving his previous career as an educator. David shaped the missionary philosophy and methodology of Watchman Fellowship through its first sixteen years as its President. He now guides and oversees it as the Board Chairman.
Bob AndersonBob Anderson was born in Youngstown, Ohio. He attended Ohio University for two years before entering the U.S. Army. While in the service, Bob was married. However, just two months later, he received orders for Vietnam which would change his life forever. To help pass the time on the long journey by ship, he joined a Chaplain’s Bible study where he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In Vietnam, he served his remaining time as a Chaplain’s assistant ministering to men in the field. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to college at Youngstown State University where he graduated in 1974. Bob spent nine years as the Sports Director at the ABC affiliate in Youngstown. During this time he became excited about a television minister who turned out to be a cultist! The shock that he could be so easily deceived sent Bob on a quest to keep others from the same fate.
Don MalinDon Malin was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1953. He developed interests in a number of fields related to the occult or New Age Movement including UFOs, Hypnosis, Positive Thinking, Spirits, and Parapsychology. He graduated in 1972 from Fox Chapel High School and entered the Army. While stationed at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, Don developed a friendship with a number of Christians involved in Navigators. Through this friendship, Don became a Christian, meeting Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord in 1974.
Tim MartinTim Martin, the Illinois Director of Watchman Fellowship has over eleven years experience in the field of Christian counter-cult evangelism, apologetics, and discernment. He speaks in numerous churches, college campuses and conferences throughout the United States on the subject of Christian discernment and evangelism. Because of his unique ministry expertise, he has been interviewed several times on radio, television and in newspaper articles.
Timothy OliverTimothy Oliver was born April 18, 1953 in southern California, where he spent most of his childhood. The son of a Seventh-day Adventist minister, he received parts of his education in SDA parochial schools. Rejecting that whole system, he delved briefly into Scientology, then spent three years involved with Vedanta (a strain of Hinduism, and foundational to the philosophy of the New Age Movement). After praying about the Book of Mormon he received a spiritual “testimony” of its truthfulness which he (mistakenly) believed was from the Holy Ghost. He accepted Mormonism as true and was baptized into the Mormon church, in which he was a devout believer for ten years.
Phillip ArnnPhillip Arnn was born in Roanoke, Virginia. He was raised in a non-Christian home, but had a praying grandmother. She passed away before she could see Phillip come to the Lord at the age of twenty-three. His association with Watchman Fellowship began in 1984, while attending the Watchman's first Cult Awareness Institute. Observing the need for such a ministry to the Church, and discerning the Lord's leadership in his life, he began his ministry with Watchman Fellowship in 1986.
Preston CondraPreston Condra was born December 14, 1969 in Springdale, Arkansas. Preston personally put his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in 1986 at the age of 16 and two years later in 1988 surrendered his life to the call of God to full-time Christian ministry. Preston was licensed to the Gospel Ministry in 1992 and ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 1993.
